The Very Hungry Caterpillar

It has been a while since my last post. I've made a lot of cupcakes, but nothing fancy. Today, I'm sharing my favorite cupcakes I've made thus far...The Very Hungry Caterpillar! I think it turned out super cute. I normally don't do cakes, but the head of the caterpillar was small. I'm always nervous about icing big cakes. I even loved the different shades of green icing on the body.

You Could Not, Would Not Want to Miss a Celebration Like This!

How convenient that I get to make Dr. Seuss cupcakes...

Compared to some other cupcakes these were sort of hard. It wasn't hard to assemble them, but it was difficult to get them to stand up straight and not get red dye from the icing onto the white marshmallow. Plus, the hat made them really tall so they couldn't be assembled until they were out of the box ready to serve.

Long Time, No Post

Even though I haven't posted pics of my cupcakes in a long time, I have made quite a few. Some people have asked me about my blog. Since I gave them the address, I figured I should get back to posting.

Is there something in the water?

This weekend I've been busy making cupcakes for another baby shower. Everytime I turn around someone else is pregnant. This time it is Josh's niece, Tresica. I found these cute cupcake liners at Michael's a few weeks ago. When I was having all that trouble with the sports cupcake liners I used some of the flower ones from Michael's to see if it was me or the cupcake liners that was the problem...definately the cupcake liners as the flower ones turned out fine (side note: the company did refund my money for the bad liners!). Since there were flowers on the liners, I found a new way to frost them like a rose (of course it was on Pinterest!). I have become so obsessed with Pinterest. When I was making these cupcakes for the shower Friday evening, I was on Pinterest while they were baking. When the timer went off, I was so engrossed in Pinterest that I had no clue what the beeping sound was. I was looking around trying to figure it out. We had a firedrill at school the day before. I was even trying to determine if that was what my fire alarm sounded like. Josh makes fun because he had to remind me that I was making cupcakes.  Anyway, here are a few pictures of the cupcakes!

Let's Play Ball!

A friend from high school who is now a colleague wanted me to make cupcakes for her son's first birthday party. She was doing a sports theme. I got the idea for these cupcakes from pinterest, I think. I will post better pictures when I get them from her. This was just a picture taken with my phone. I was pleased with them besides the cupcake liner snafu (that is another story). I made soccer balls, baseballs, footballs, and basketballs. Stay tuned for more pictures when they are available. Also, I'm making some cupcakes this weekend for a baby shower. I'll post those, too.

Catching Up!

I can't believe the last time I posted cupcakes was in August. I'm obviously not very consistent. I haven't made that many cupcakes either.  I have made a few, but they were plain with out any decorations. For the first picture, I iced the cupcakes with blue icing and then used toppers that I made. I didn't know how to decorate the cupcakes for a boy baby shower, so I made toppers using a Cricut and spelled out his name 'Benjamin.' I think it took longer to make the toppers than the cupcakes.

The next picture are some cupcakes I made for my mother-in-law's best friend's daughter's (are you confused?) baby shower. She is doing an owl theme for the nursery. I found this idea on the internet (maybe pinterest, I can't remember). When I first started making the owls I thought they looked really cute and they looked like the picture, but then as I made a bunch I thought they started looking like cats instead. Maybe they need to be a little larger. The owls are made out of fondant.
